How do you pay your taxes?
  • Checks should be made payable to the Calhoun County Collector. Your canceled check is your receipt. Payment is void if your check fails to clear. There is an additional $25.00 charge for all returned checks.
  • Illinois Statutes require a 1 ½% per month or part of the month penalty for payments made after the due date. Additional costs may be incurred after the 2nd installment due date.
  • All payments made after the due date must include interest penalty. Payments received without penalties will be returned.
  • This is the only notice you will receive. Separate bills are not mailed for the second installment. Each payment must be accompanied by the detachable portion of the tax bill. If paying the bill in full, send both stub 1 and 2.
  • If you are not responsible for payment of this tax bill, please forward it to the Mortgage Company, or to the new owner, or return it to the collector.
  • By law, failure to receive a tax bill or receiving one late for any reason, does not relieve taxpayers from taxes or late penalties.
  • Post dated checks are illegal and will not be held from processing.
